Diary of Ray Jerome Baker
Diary of Ray Jerome Baker, entries for December 7th and 8th, 1941.
Honolulu photographer Ray Jerome Baker kept diaries for much of his life. In this volume of his journal, he typed the shocking events of Dec. 7 in a chronology as they occurred. As these entries show, he was intelligent enough to recognize some rumors and untruths when he heard them, but along with everyone else he sometimes believed incorrect information since news was being strictly censored, and facts were not released to the public. Some of what he wrote on these two days, therefore, is false.
