Evaluate the Strategy

Based on what you have read, the activity that you did, and the classroom that you observed, think about how you might incorporate place-based studies into your own classroom. Discuss the following questions with your group or reflect on them in your journal.

  1. How might you use place-based teaching strategies in your classroom, or improve upon how you have already been using them?
  2. What are some of the challenges and benefits of using place-based teaching strategies with your students? How can you address any challenges?
  3. How might you adapt the activity that you experienced using the Hawaiʻi Alive Web site to use with your students?
